| Bio: | ♥ LAURA-KATHLEEN  My name is Laura-Kathleen Mancil. I am 21 years old and I haven't got the foggiest idea of what I'd like to do with my life. I am interested in many different people, places, things, and ideas. I'd much rather learn a little bit about everything than learn everything about one little thing, so that doesn't tend to help matters. ...However... There are a few things about me you should know: ♥ I am a Democrat. Yep. ...Just call me a bleeding heart, gay-loving, Christian-hating socialist liberal and get it over with. I know a lot of you are thinking it. :) ...My political opinions have been greatly shaped by the things I've experienced in my life [and I assure you, I've managed to experience a lot more in 20 years than some will ever experience in their whole lives]. That being said, I don't react kindly when people call me a "trendy liberal" just because of my age group. I think my country needs gun control, desperately. I'm fiercely pro-choice. I hate how a certain percentage of the population thinks that pro-choice = anti-life. It doesn't. I am also pro-human rights. I don't care if you are heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual. I believe that marriage is about love, and should be an option available to anyone, anywhere. With all the hate in the world these days, I'll back any couple that wants to contribute something positive to the planet. People desperately need to show more love and respect to their fellow species. ♥ I am bi-polar. In Fall of 2004, I was diagnosed with BiPolar II disorder. I tend to go through the depressed phase more often than the manic phase, but I've gotten things under control for the most part. I'm not some attention-whore teenager with a fetish for razorblades [and the bloody razorblade in my icons is used specifically for mocking]. Don't mistake me for an emo kid on the sad days, please. :) I'm not taking medication; I don't need it. I also don't like the idea that my emotions could be dictated by a pill. I'm not mentally ill. One of my biggest wishes in life is for stability. ♥ I am agnostic.; I'm not so sure on this whole "God" thing. I am, however, a firm believer in Karma. I consider my religious questioning to be a large part of my personality, although it doesn't tend to show in public unless you ask me about it. A lot of people spend their lives wondering if there is or isn't a God, but I am perfectly content not knowing the answer, and not caring to seek it. I was raised as a Catholic, but I think organized religion is responsible for a lot of the world's problems. I don't see anything wrong with people having faith as long as it isn't shoved down my throat every ten seconds. I believe global religious tolerance would be a positive step in making the world a more peaceful place. ♥ I am opinionated. If I've got something on my mind, I'm going to say it. But that doesn't make me close-minded, either. If you've got something to say, I'll hear it out. Just make damn sure you're not going to automatically bash me and I'll be glad to do the same. ♥ I am a pirate, and I love East Carolina University with all my heart. Sure, PeeDee looks like he is wearing lipstick and purple and gold aren't exactly the most ferocious colors. But I am very proud to be an ECU student. Go Pirates! ♥ I am a person. I have thoughts and feelings, and I'd like you to respect them just as I would respect yours. That is not a hard concept to grasp, although some people seem to think it is. I suppose that's what happens when you put your life out there for people to evaluate and criticize. ♥ I am me. Enough said. If you have a problem with me, that's fine. You can judge me all you want, but keep the verdict to yourself because I really couldn't care less about what you think of me.
